Sabio by the Sea serves an array of Spanish food in a very cosy and relaxing environment by the Marina. It is quite empty on a Saturday afternoon with only 2 tables other than us. This is also something which I like about dining and relaxing at Quayside Isle, even when the restaurants are full at night the walkway is not crowded with people.
However I find that there are very limited dining tables for a restaurant and it can be a problem to get a table at night, so make a reservation first if you intend to dine there on a Saturday night. I went there once on a Saturday night which is packed and they offered us to seat at the bar table which we turned down.
There are a few tables for alfresco dining if you prefer to dine and enjoy the scenery of the marina but not for me, I will always prefer the air condition. Back to the experience at Sabio, although it was quite empty when we reached it took awhile for them to come to us and bring us to the table so it didn't leave me a good impression right from the start.
We ordered 2 starters and a main to share. The Calamares a la plancha (Pan-fried calamari) was very well done and the calamari is just the right texture which is easy on your teeth.
Croquetas (manchego cheese croquettes) is very crispy on the outside and soft on the inside which we like, however there isn't much cheese inside and the taste is abit light, so we dipped in with alot of sauce.
As you can see, not much cheese flowing.
Nest is our main, the paella de pescado (Rice with squid, sea bass, mussels, clams and shrimps). Seafood paella usually doesn't come with beans for the authentic one you find in Spain but there are lots of beans here. The saffron taste is also almost non-existent as well. I still find Don Quijote Spanish Restaurant one of the better Spanish restaurants in Singapore.
Sabio by the sea do have quite a decent selection of tapas which is good if you want to have a chat and drinks with group of friends. If I have a craving for Spanish food or Paella I will probably go to Don Quijote.
